About the venue
The venue is located at the University of Iceland campus, and there some cafes, restaurants, and a small shop near the location. Larger grocery stores are a bit further out (1.5-2km) from the campus.
WiFi access via eduroam is available at the venue, as well as a guest WiFi network for those without eduroam access.
How to get there
Gróska is within walking distance from downtown (ca. 2km / 35 minute walk), or you can take the public transport bus, Strætó. When taking the bus, trips can be paid with contactless payment methods on the reader next to the driver inside the buses.
The closest station is called “Íslensk Erfðagreining” on Line 15, and “Háskólí Íslands” and “Háskólatorg” are close by the venue. Google Maps and the Strætó site can be used to plan routes.
If you plan on renting a car, keep in mind all parking areas near the venue are paid parking only. To avoid fines, you need check the signs near the parking for payment options (when paying with an app, you need to make sure the area is correct.)
Taxi is also an option.
Transportation options
There are two main bus stops in the center. The first bus stop is right next to Astoria Capsis Hotel. There are also other suggested hotels that are quite close to the bus stops. The route takes about 40 minutes by bus (heading ITE or PAGNI) and the ticket costs 1,50 € (blue ticket). Ticket vending machines are located next to most bus stations in the centre but you can also buy from most kiosks around the city. Please keep in mind that city traffic may affect departure and arrival times. In addition, you can get a taxi which takes no more than 20 minutes, depending on the traffic, and costs approximately 12 € from Eleftherias Square, plus €2 for call service. All Venue Rooms are located at the Central Building, straight ahead from the entrance.
