Excursion

On the afternoon the last conference day (Thursday, 10. September 2026.), a bus will take the conference participants along the Golden Circle.

The bus will start at and return to the conference venue, Gróska.

Participants can leave their luggage in a locked room at Gróska (accessible before and after the excursion).

The Golden Circle Tour

The tour will contain the three main attractions of the Golden Circle.

Þingvellir National Park – where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. The part is directly on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which the tectonic plates pull apart by about 2 centimeters every year.

Geysir – a geothermal area in Haukadalur with erupting hot springs, namely Geysir, from which the English word geyser derives from.

Gullfoss Waterfall – one of the most popular waterfalls to visit in Iceland, Gullfoss flows in two stages into a canyon at the rate of 140 m³/s.
